Bio
Mike Rodriguez is a dedicated and committed hockey coach whose passion for player development spans nearly two decades. Born and raised in Michigan, Mike grew up immersed in the game, playing travel hockey with the West Michigan Warriors and later competing at the collegiate club level with Grand Valley State University. His Midwestern hockey roots instilled a strong foundation in work ethic, discipline, and team-first values that continue to shape his coaching philosophy today. Mike began his coaching career in Florida in 2007, initially coaching his son, Gianni, through the youth ranks until Gianni advanced to the prep school hockey level in 2014. Since then, Mike has remained deeply committed to the growth of hockey in Florida, serving as a coach with both the Palm Beach Hawks and the Florida Alliance. Throughout his tenure, his teams have captured numerous state championships, including a standout 2002 birth-year team that earned a berth at the USA Hockey National Championships. Recognized as a pioneer in building pathways from Florida youth hockey to prep school and prep school hockey, Mike has played a key role in expanding opportunities for Florida players and families. His extensive network, guidance, and advocacy have helped countless athletes pursue higher levels of competition while maintaining a strong focus on long-term development, character, and academic balance. Mike continues to be a driving force in Florida hockey growth, development, and opportunity while helping young athletes reach their full potential both on and off the ice.
