Austin is a South Florida native who grew up in Parkland, FL. He was a goaltender that played locally for the Florida Jr. Panthers, South Florida Golden Wolves and Florida Alliance organizations as a youth. After an injury ended his playing career, Austin obtained his undergraduate degree from Penn State and his masters from Florida Atlantic University. He is currently in his fifth year with the OHL's Mississauga Steelheads, serving as the team's United States area scout. Austin is also the Director of Scouting & Operations for Liberty Bell Games Florida.
